The purpose of this paper is to expose the difficulties faced in the design of complex buildings for vulnerable populations in confinement contexts. The development of the research carried out shows the existence of general technical aspects and also points out issues of planning and evaluation of public policies related to existing prison infrastructures.
Finally, the contributions of different sciences that have advanced in the analysis and evaluation of spaces, such as behavioral sciences, artificial intelligence, environmental criminology, environmental psychology and neuroscience, all of them directly related to architecture, are included. Such contributions suggest major changes in the current design of these spaces.
