The military coup of 1943 has been studied with a special focus on various problems. Thus, studies have concentrated on the role of the military, decisive actors in the June 4 coup; the role of the Catholic Church and other actors in the military field, as well as that of the political parties and trade unions, have also been analyzed, among the main axes. The coup installed in a few months a repressive atmosphere marked by the censorship of the opposition, the annulment of political parties, the suspension of institutions and the implementation of compulsory religious education in basic schools. This article proposes to focus on the problem of consensus towards this military coup, the way in which it was socially constructed through expressions of mass culture that helped to delegitimize the republican institutions. We focus on the magazine Cascabel and its page "Antipolítica".
