Anarchism in the Face of the Coup of 1930. Challenges, Links and Resistances

Abstract

The coup d'état of 1930 implied an important transformation for the argentine political system, with transcendent consequences for society in the short and long term. The labor movement and left-wing sectors saw their development particularly compromised by the restriction of political life and civil liberties, along with the application of selective repressive measures.

This article investigates the implications that the military uprising had for a particular sociopolitical actor, the anarchists. The study focuses on the analysis of the positions assumed in the face of political change, the actions undertaken to combat or avoid persecution, the alliances and debates formulated in the face of the new situation.
