The concept of world political authority: the problema of the search for peace in the social doctrine of the church and in Jacques Maritain

Abstract

The problem of peace has been one of the most important topics in political science and international relations. The constant increase in social, religious, ethnic and military conflicts reveals the need for greater depth in the search for a stable and lasting peace. From armed conflicts between nations, such us those between Ukraine and Russia, to threats to States posed by terrorist groups (such us Hamas and Israel) and persecutions for ethnic and religious reasons, to the problems raised by immigration in Europe, all of these constitute a threat to peace. This article will focus on the visions offered by the Social Doctrine of the Church and the political thought of Jacques Maritain on the concept of World Political Authority as an effective means of ensuring peace at the international level
