Abstract

This research is an analysis of the New Deal policies, implemented by Franklin D. Roosevelt in the United States during the economic crisis of the 30s, from the perspective of the economy and the institutions.
To achieve this end are presented the main elements of the crisis of 1930, a study of the economic policies pursued in the context of an institutional innovation, and we conclude by assessing the policies set used by that time from its macroeconomic achievements and its institutional performance.
Meanwhile, this paper includes a historical diagnosis of the situation in the U.S. at that time and
highlights the aspects that led to that administration to the implementation of the New Deal.
Finally, we conclude with an analysis of the macroeconomic impact of policies. The conclusion
includes the main lessons of experience from the perspective of economic policy and regulation
design, to end with some reflections on its possible implementation at present.
