On the TroÁ§o de la corónica del rey don Enrique el Doliente of the Manuscript BNM 1530

Abstract

As a result of the discovery of an unknown testimony that belongs to the tradition of Refundición del Sumario del Despensero, in ff. 238v-239v (BNM MSS/1530) (BETA manid 4978), the article proposes to explore the fragmentary process by which the historic object is constructed in the fifteenth-century historiographical works known as summaries of chronicles. The paper also links the fragment with the “Magnicidio de Alfaro” (Crónica de Sancho IV) proposing its inclusion within the topic “prendimiento de un grande”, which meets significant examples in medieval Spanish chronicles.
