'Travelogues' and Cultural Paradigms

Abstract

This paper aims to demonstrate the dialectical relationship between ‘travelogues’ and different cultural and scientific paradigms throughout history, with the main purpose of emphasizing the importance of a literary genre that has always existed in different forms and sometimes with diffuse margins. Its border position, which reveals features of the documentary, the testimonial and the literary, makes it a privileged genre in order to analyze the contact points with the different cultural, philosophical and scientific parameters that have characterized it.
