Abstract

The objective of supervision is to improve professional performance and the quality of professional services offered to clients and that their attendance could generate better results in psychotherapeutic processes. Despite the importance of the supervision process, there are few local studies that describe its use, therefore, this work aims to know the use of supervision by Argentine psychotherapists. For this, a quantitative methodology and a non-experimental, cross-sectional descriptive and correlational design were used in which 534 psychotherapists from 19 provinces of Argentina participated. The Basic Clinical Competences Scale for Psychotherapists (ECCBP) was used, which aims to evaluate the basic clinical competencies for the exercise of psychotherapy and the indicators associated with its development through three evaluation modalities: resolution of clinical cases, self-evaluation and questionnaire. The use of supervision by psychotherapists is described and the results are compared with other studies with similar characteristics. The results obtained would allow knowing local data to detect problems and deficits in performance and have more tools to generate the conditions for their remediation.
