The article deals with the reasons why De Ente et Essentia, Thomas Aquinas’ early work, appears in the beginning of one of the main works of Edith Stein: Finite and Eternal Being. It explains the way in which the author understands De Ente; the relevance that, in her opinion, the concepts of act and potency have on Saint Thomas Aquinas; and the way in which she understands the terms and how she attempts to make them intelligible to thinkers from the phenomenology movement or from non-scholastic backgrounds.
