Thomistic anthropology as indispensable legacy for bioethics
Keywords:
anthropology, bioethics, dignity of the personAbstract
The aim of this paper is to show how Thomistic anthropology is an indispensable element for establishing truthful responses, in line with Christian doctrine, about pressing issues of contemporary bioethics, such as abortion, euthanasia, genetic manipulation, and eugenics, which imply respect for the dignity of the human person. This dignity is only recognized if we consider the ontological notion of the person as the ultimate and highest perfection in the genus of substance.
