ICONOGRAFÍA RETÓRICA DEL ARTE AUGUSTAL

Abstract

This article focuses the Ara Pacis and its relation to rhetorical discourse. The purpose is to suggest that the iconographical elaboration aims to a certain reasoning through enthymemes, both narrative, by exemplarity or allegorical. The author analyzes the role of the Princeps in the family complex and the allegories displayed by the sculptural monument.
