Abstract

The present work intends to problematize the possibility of aesthetics in the work of Wittgenstein (1). For this, we start from a reconstruction of the critique of aesthetic science as a reductive explanation present in his Lectures on aesthetics (2). Then, we locate this particular instance within the broader scope of his work, showing its coherence and theoretical continuity (3). Lastly, we conclude that this critical instance does not end all possibility of an aesthetic in Wittgenstein; but since this is central to his thought, it must be an aesthetic different from the psychologistic reduction that he criticizes (4).
