Abstract

The article approaches the discourses and images about past in the Provincial Museum of History of the city of Rosario in the first decades of the XX century. In principle, it points out how the creation of this museum was one of the many strategies that generated the local bourgeoisie to stimulate certain identity processes in the cultural and intellectual atmosphere of the city and to legitimate his hegemony as social class. Then it analyzes in which ways this social imaginaries were expressed in the muséographie exhibitions, discussing the configurations of sense that were built from the delimitation of political-territorial agencies (Nation, county, city), the representation of certain actors with their memoirs and finally, the invisibilisation of other agents of the social plot. In this ideological operations social subjects and identities or spaces and imaginary, sometimes shared and others faced but always linked to important matters for the society of Rosario, played a relevant and polemic role.
