From 1927 through 1946, the Institute of Philology of Buenos Aires University has experienced its golden ages, with Amado Alonso as his director. In less than twenty years, Alonso made possible that the Institute obtained international and domestic prestige. The Institute gained recognition in argentine culture; attired numerous disciples; published its own book collections and got in touch with the most important publishers and collaborated several times with them. Nevertheless, peronism made a lot of pressure on the Institute and as a result it became virtually dismantled.
