The new authorities of the United Provinces, born under a great infl uence of the European liberalism, they needed to cancel for political reasons, in the religious fi eld, all kind of dependence from the outside authority, around to the Colonial Spanish power. That is the reason why they created the General Commissioner of the Regulars, as the only Superior Authority of all the Friars. In San Juan de la Frontera and Mendoza, the local authorities gave an ecclesiastic legislation, what affected to every religious Order, and, in a short period of time, became impossible the augustinian religious life, follow for a massive abandon of the convents toward the secular priesthood. That reform, in the practice, was a real destruction of the Augustinian Order, in Cuyo’s province.
