Abstract

Last year 2006 was the fortieth commemoration of the dead of Carlos Vega. He was born in Cañuelas in 1898. He was the precursor of the musicologies in Argentina, and a restless fighter who tried to put this field of knowledge up to the level of science. He was a remarkable investigator and a proliferated writer. He stood out with his investigations in a time when there were a great number of famous thinkers; and, although he had not received a formal education in this field of knowledge, he devoted himself to those studies and achieved the creation of two institutions dedicated to the development of this science. We are talking about the National Institute of Musicology Carlos Vega and the Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina Institute of Musicology Investigation Carlos Vega, both of which maintain his legacy and go on through the path paved by him.
