Abstract

The article explores the caracteristics of the XVIII Century Jansenist movement into the general movemnet known as the Catholic Illustration. Jansenism was a posture or party inside the Catholicism that makes a practical and dogmatical oposition to the Jesuits and “Jesuitism”. The Jansenism proposals were condemned by the Popes, but they have had their intelectual defendants, specially in their fi ght against superstition and the defence of the regalism. The article analizes their propositions, using examples taken from latinamerican authors and works of the modern Catholic Ecclecticism.
