Abstract

Throug this piece of writing I try to deal with the Brazilian reasons to negotiate the intervention of Great Britain and France in the Plata Conflict in 1845. An atack from Rosas and Oribe to the Brazilian territory to make respect the treaty limits from 1777, it coud damage the socio-economic order and also their own monarchy. To saveguard Brazil, it was not only convenient to look for partners, but also create a surrounded sanitary cordon formed by little independent states: Paraguay, Corrientes, Entre Ríos and the Estado Oriental. The last one, meanwhile did not come back to the Empire.
