Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the diplomatic approach of Buenos Aires towards Simon Bolivar to join forces in the conflict with Brazil over the sovereignty in the Banda Oriental. It is intended to show the political interests that moved Buenos Aires; whether under the domination of “unitary” or “federal” faction, and Bolivar; committed to play a leading role in the national organization of Colombia, Peru and Bolivia, not to settle down a diplomatic/military agreement in the context of the creation of Bolivia and Uruguay States during the period of 1824-1828. Seeking intelligibility, interpretation and explanation of this matter through out the analysis of sources of historical information that reflect the public agenda of Buenos Aires, along with the political priorities of Bolivar in this particular period of time.
