This article analyzes the role of Carta de España magazine as an institutional journalistic tool aimed at Spanish emigrants and the reflection in its pages on the political and social changes in the country. From a historical and documentary review, the formal and editorial evolution of the publication in the context of Francoism, transition and democratic consolidation is studied. The analysis considers identity discourses, the propagandistic function and the evolution towards an approach of service to the diaspora and spokesperson for their claims. The objective is to highlight the value of the magazine, after sixty years of printed life, as an archive of memory that articulates representations of the nation, the emigration and the return.
