El escrito autobiográfico de Fernando Álvarez de Albornoz y la guerra civil castellana (1366- 1371)

Abstract

In the second half of the 14th century Fernando Álvarez de Albornoz wrote an autobiographical Latin text at the beginning of a Decretum Gratiani codex. Part of this text contains an account of the Castilian Civil War (1366-1371) probably based on information that came to Italy in letters sent to him or any of his relatives. Therefore, the account can be studied as a primary source, or as a historiographical writing. In this paper the text is transcribed, translated and analyzed. From this analysis, we propose a dating for text, a model of narrative and thematic structure, and hypothesis for its nature and intention.
