Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze, on the one hand, how Philostratus describes the teacher-disciple relationship between the representatives of the Second Sophistic mentioned in the Lives of Sophists, since this interrelation is an essential element to characterize them as symbolic figures of prestige and influence and, undoubtedly, it unites the set of the sophists as a representative group of a cultural elite–; and, secondly, to try to systematize what is the content of those teachings and what aspect of the sophistic activity affects.
