Abstract

The publication of the Letter Iuvenescit Ecclesia by the Congregation for the Doctrine
of the Faith allows an analysis of the relationship between institution and charism
in the heart of the church community. A new charismatic wave, born in the 20th century,
recalls the need of a serious consideration to assure a positive bond between both
permanent, steady elements (ministry/hierarchical gifts) and the novel elements from
the Holly Spirit (charisms) in the Church. The arising and growth of new charisms, some of them now facing critical situations, demands an analysis of the interrelationship between charism and institution within the organizations.
