Abstract

The author of the article proposes a journey through the heresies that arose
in the early years of the Church with its variations and forms, and the testimony
of the Fathers. Its purpose is to provide an instrument for reviewing
different attitudes in the realm of faith, Christology and ecclesiology and the
methodological challenge posed by them at the time of giving responses. It presents, in this sense, the early Christological heresies and analyzes the meanings and implications of Docetism, Gnosticism, the Monophysite tendency, the heresy of Apollinar and Nestorianism, and traces the relationships with today’s cultural context. Special importance is given to Gnosticism, ever-present temptation of the Christian life. Within the Ecclesiological heresy, the author develops the meaning and the attitudes of the Donatist movement. Around the heresies of grace, he develops the contents of the Pelagian doctrine and Semipelagianism with its spiritual and pastoral tendency. The study highlights the value of tradition that draws us into the living history of the Church.
