Resumo

In his lectio inauguralis of the academic year of the Faculty of Theology of the Catholic University of Argentina, the author takes the opportunity of the Celebration of the Centenary of this Faculty and the fifty years of the closure of the II Vatican Council, to reflect on the impact of the latter in the style of the former. This style is, in fact, fruit of the reception of the Council, in which love has prevailed as the center of Christian life and thinking, together with a vision of revelation as the communication of God to men in history, and a new attention to the “signs of times”, generatinga new attitude characterized by openness and dialogue. The “integrative style” of our Faculty, inspired by the Council and the figure of Paul VI, finds a renewed impulse in Pope Francis, for whom “authentic” theology must be done “on one’s knees”, and from the “heart”, being at the same time humble wisdom and committed love.
