This article aims to present the relevance of using sources in research within the field of the History of Education, particularly those focusing on the realities or contexts in which rural teachers carry out their activities. The theoretical framework includes contributions from José D’Assunção Barros, Peter Burke, Ester Buffa, and Peter Loizos. The study highlights the importance of sources for conducting research on rural schools in connection with the History of Education.
