Subnational Democratic Reconstruction: Political Practices and Intraparty Competition in the Unión Cívica Radical (La Pampa, 1983).

Abstract

The article analyzes the reconstruction of the democratic order through the practices and strategies deployed by political parties on the eve of the 1983 electoral competition. Specifically, this paper investigates the characteristics of the democratic consensus political project produced by the Unión Cívica Radical (UCR) in La Pampa, with a particular emphasis on the subnational dimension. We maintain that by examining democratic reorganization from a provincial perspective, we can better understand the conditions that enable actors to produce, accumulate, and distribute power within a territorial context that is interconnected with the national level.
