Abstract

O perigo da arte by Brazilian composer Tim Rescala was premiered on October 12th 2013 at the Centro Nacional de la Música, as part of Tercer Ciclo Iberoamericano de Ópera Contemporánea, coordinated by the composer Juan Ortíz de Zárate.The work is a music theatre piece in one act, divided into twelve scenes, and written for soprano, tenor, baritone and chamber ensemble. Rescala creates both the music and the libretto. The plot refers to a critical view about visual arts business. Rescala builds a solid formal construction by means of irony, humor and an effective combination between lyrics and music. Sound gesture in relation with storytelling, and a clever development of dramatic action, reveal his vast experience in audiovisual productions and plays.
