Abstract

In the Middle Ages, the permanent Royal support to Monasteries was never interrupted in periodo of crisis, as the one occured during the late years of Alfonso Xth and the beginning of Sancho IVth, when some of the traditional Monasteries took part in the Hermandad The Spanish Monarchy did not get involved in the realengo-abadengo conflict, always eager to favour the Monastic Communities, bastion and symbol of Medieval spirituality as well as managers of the territories and the economic life of the areas where they settled.
