Abstract

Between the end of the 19th century and the first years of the 20th century, an unprecedented journalistic scenario took place within the elite of Spanish intellectuals. In the course of these years, after the defeat by the Island of Cuba emerged, the result of the discenso of the different political factions, a multiplicity of publishing undertakings that reflected the political differences in the Buenos Aires journalistic dispute. The culminating point of this novel scenario of division among the elite of Spanish emigrants was the decision of the group of Republicans led by Rafael Calzada to start a proselytizing campaign through the newspaper El Correo Español.
