Abstract

The Treaty of Alcaçovas in 1479, between Portugal and Castile, ended the War of Succession. One of the arguments against the likelyhood to the throne of the Excelente Señora Doña Juana, was that her father king Enrique had died without signing a will or naming a successor. The recent discovery of a document in Simancas allows us to approach objectively to the question of the royal succession in Castile.
