Abstract

The essays gathered here come from the first panel dedicated to Marechal in the U.S., presented in May 2022, as part of the XL LASA Congress (Latin American Studies Association). Specialists from different parts of the world gathered on that occasion to share insights and perspectives on Marechal's work, with a focus on spatial dynamics and environmental studies. The reader of this volume, therefore, should consider that among the guidelines of these works was to make new trends in criticism about Marechal's vast corpus accessible to an audience not familiar with Marechal. This corpus encompasses not only novels but also poetry, essays, short stories, and theater. These works pave new paths in Marechal criticism, but they are supported by a tradition of readings that explore this archive of extraordinary richness, revealing always new facets.
