Throughout the 20th century, the Argentine Republic fluctuated through different currents of strategic thought that were characterized by the preeminence of the military factor for the resolution of conflicts that affected the National Defense. Towards the mid-1960s, an innovative French theory proposed a broad strategic orientation, both in planning and in directing the means to achieve a general objective at the level of the Nation State. This imprint of heterogeneous conception proved suitable for non-hegemonic countries with few resources but which, even so, had to overcome the extremely complex scenarios presented to them by the global context of the Cold War and the outsourcing of the dispute between blocs, towards the periphery. of the Southern Cone of America. The present work investigates the expanded strategy of General André Beaufre and its impact on Argentine reality, to establish its importance and degree of penetration in military thought and the strategic planning system of Argentina in the second half of the 20th century.
