Abstract

Some proposals of the current tango seem to move within the genre with some independence and it is difficult to ascribe them to any particular influence. In this work I will analyze some works of Diego Schisssi, the brothers Emiliano and Lautaro Greco
and Edgardo Rodríguez, to determine the presence and importance in their works of
the Piazzollian legacy. I propose that beyond the explicit acceptance of influences of
any kind, the imprint of Piazzolla's tango have a strong influence on the current
tango of more innovative intentions. In order to investigate this issue, the first step is
to define what the piazzollismo consists of and then to see how it manifests itself in
the contemporary tango formulated by the exponents of the popular field and the
academic one that I selected on this occasion.
