Abstract

This article is the result of a research made on the newspapers printed in Bogotá in 1874, during the saison of the lyric company Rossi-d’Achiardi, presenting who were the itinerant companies, and in the specific case of Bogota. Studding the specific case of the Rossi-d’Achiardi, we show how the quotidian life of those Italians in Bogota was, and try to write down the calendar of their representations. We also analyze the reception of the opera, explaining how the ideal of progress and civilization is related to the lyric performances.
