El jubileo de 1750. Fiesta barroca y música en Córdoba del Tucumán

Abstract

This paper presents a general outlook of a small and peripheral city of the Viceroyalty of Peru, Audience of Charcas like Córdoba, seat of the Bishop of Tucumán during the second half of the eighteenth century. We focus on a particular case in order to analize specific documents and bibliography. Besides, we will make some links between other documents available to study the social and musical history of Córdoba. The case will be the celebrations of the Jubilee of 1750, called by Benedicto XIV, celebrated in Córdoba three years later. Córdoba lived an authentic baroque feast in which the music had play an important role.
