Abstract

The preparation of a critical edition and translation of the bucolic poem De mortibus boum by Endelechius involves the selection of variants that modify the meaning of the text. In this light, the comparison of variants presupposes a preliminary translation before the final outcome in Spanish: the problems in vv. 8, 17 and 128 illustrate this interpretative process in which the potential meaning of the text is analyzed in accordance to the several options of the textual tradition.
