From the late 19th century to the early 20th century, amid an ongoing economic and social modernization in the Province of Córdoba (Argentina), there was a growing commodification of domestic service, which contributed to the destabilization of the traditional regulatory methods and the weakening of employer control. This gave rise to the demand for state intervention, consistently referred to as the “regulation” of the sector. This paper aims to determine the meanings attributed to this term in Córdoba in the specified period, the changes and the persistent aspects, along with their underlying reasons. Extensive and intensive research on the press, and a thorough analysis of the regulations driven by the State were conducted.
