Abstract

In this article, a discussion is carried out regarding the occurrence of consecutive fifths and octaves in the repertoire of common practice. A critical review of Heinrich Schenker's structural theory is proposed to investigate its utility in analyzing anomalous phenomena in voice leading and to identify resources that can provide systematic explanations for a non-normative phenomenon within the rules of counterpoint.

Doctorando en el área Musicología del Doctorado en Música de la Facultad de Artes y Ciencias Musicales de la Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina “Santa María de los Buenos Aires”, es Licenciado en Composición musical por la misma casa de estudios (2019), donde también ejerce como docente adscripto en la catedra Composición II. Actualmente se encuentra finalizando estudios de especialización en Composición dentro de la Diplomatura Superior en Música Contemporánea del Conservatorio Superior de Música “Manuel de Falla”.
