Author Guidelines

General guidelines.

1. Works must be original and of high scholarly quality. Articles will be accepted in Spanish, English, French, German, Italian, or Portuguese.

2. All materials submitted for publication in Sapientia must be previously unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere. Once submissions have been published, authors will be able to make use of them with complete freedom, always citing the original publication in Sapientia.

3. Materials must be submitted via email, by addressing to the Director, sapientia@uca.edu.ar. Articles should be attached in Word format with an accompanying PDF version. Please also add a CV (in which an email address is to be specified for future contacts), and the Institution of academic affiliation.

4. Authors are fully responsible for the content and for all bibliographic references and citations.

5. For journal articles, an abstract of between 150 and 250 words must be attached in both Spanish and English.

5a. In addition, keywords of which no more than 5 should be included at the end of the abstract, separated by hyphens and in lower case, except for proper names.

5b. Keywords will be translated into English under the keywords label, also in lowercase and separated by hyphens.

5c Authors should respect, therefore, this order: abstract in Spanish, keywords in Spanish, abstract in English and keywords in English.

6. All articles should have a title (but no name for anonymous review). In the case of subtitles, these should be listed in bold (1, 2, 3, etc.). The following subdivisions must be arranged alphabetically, namely a, b, c, also in bold. Both title and subtitles and subdivisions must be written in straight letters (not italics or italics) without underlining.

7. For all references, citations, and matters of style, the journal uses the most recent edition of The Chicago Manuel of Style. When submitting materials, authors should first download the template from the journal’s website and attach their work following the guidelines there. Some essential points to keep in mind:

7a. Quotation marks to be used are the so-called "high quotation marks" (item 6.105 of The Chicago Manual of Style). Intertextual citations in the body of the text must be enclosed in single quotation marks.

7.b. If the citations are in a language other than Spanish, they must be in quotation marks and in italics.

7c. Small box citations must be without quotation marks and in Times New Roman 11 font, with a tabulated left margin of 1.25 cm.

7d. For terms in a language other than the original, italics must be used.

7e. Footnotes in a language other than Spanish must be placed in quotation marks and in italics. Footnotes in Spanish must be in quotation marks and without italics.

8. Each article will be submitted for evaluation by two anonymous referees. In the case of not reaching an agreement, a third reviewer will be consulted. The journal reserves the right not to publish those articles that do not meet the minimum publication requirements. Within a maximum period of two months, the Editor will notify the author of the reviewers reports. If the opinion is favorable, the estimated publication date for the article will be communicated.

9. Deadlines: for the first issue of the following year, all submissions must be submitted by April 30; and for the second issue by September 30.

10. External referees or evaluators will receive the articles without identifying the author, in order to maintain objectivity with respect to the authors.

11. In order to avoid conflicts of interest, reviewers should not be colleagues, supervisors, or contributors to the volume published by the author.

II. Sapientia receives manuscripts in the following sections.

 1. Articles: not fewer than 6,000 words and not longer than 10,000. The journal may decide to publish longer articles as two separate essays.
