The article proposes an analysis of the positions on university reform based on the visit of the Catalan physiologist Augusto Pi y Suñer. In this sense, although the objective of the activities of the Spanish Cultural Institution was to invite Spanish professors to offer lectures in the houses of study in Argentina, on this occasion it coincided that the visitor was also a protagonist of the reforms in Spain, for which an arc of solidarity with the Argentine student movement was deployed. The leadership elite of the Spanish institutions sought to support and collaborate in the regeneration of Spain based on permanent institutional action and, in turn, seek to raise the prestige of Spain in Argentina.
