When the “Revolución Libertadora” defeats Juan Domingo Perón’s government many of his supporters and political leaders were forced to leave Argentina. Even though Latin America was the favorite destination, Spain received important exiles and Perón was the most important of them. In 1960 Perón settled in Madrid. He was sheltered by the Francisco Franco’s regime, protected and kept under surveillance by the Spanish police. The former president chose a non-revolutionary experience of exile. Madrid became center of peregrination to visit the illustrious exile, while the myth was raised and Spain played in important part of Argentinean’s history.
